Cheers to New Beginnings!

With God at the helm, 2024 will be incredible!

January is usually when we think of our new year’s resolutions. I learned recently that the second Friday in January is called ‘quitters’ day’ when most people stop or quit their resolutions. Sadly, I was one of those statistics in years gone by. It was something that I just did without putting much forethought into my goals.

Starting in December with the encouragement of my sister, I have put effort into thinking through and writing down four long-term goals for the year.  The word that keeps coming to mind is consistency.


“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations…” 
(Eph. 3:20-21)


These verses came to mind as I am in awe of how God has and continues to fulfill and provide for my financial needs.  I am humbled and grateful when I read the reports each month of how much money has been raised in such a short period of time and through various individuals, churches, church groups, and businesses who have generously invested. We have raised to date $31,900. Needing $8,100 to reach the budget goal of $40,000. I still need your help to cross the finish line.

It was such a delight to be able to provide care for a family who was finishing their time in the Philippines. It was special since I debriefed the kids two years ago and now the opportunity to reconnect and see how they are doing. We reviewed some concepts and activities we did before and added some new activities because of the season of life they are currently entering.

Recently, I helped to provide care for a family who are in the states for a year on furlough.  As a family they are facing many life transitions with aging parents, will be leaving their young adult son behind, and when back in Chile, they will be living in a different region.  Providing the teens with a safe space to share their stories and to have intentional time to process how their experiences impacted them. In addition, brainstorming with the older son to think big picture and some steps to take towards establishing himself in the US was a little overwhelming to him and his parents and eye opening.


TCK Connect started back up for the semester. It was great to see some new students who attended and hearing how Christmas break went for them.  We had a family that ended moving back to their host country quickly.  Another family has decided that later this year they’ll be moving back to the US.  The leaders talked through how many of the students will be transitioning this year as we have some high school seniors who will be attending college next year and those students who will be moving back to US or to their host country.  Seeing this need, we are going to have some breakout groups to talk through these life changing transitions.

BCM Peru is in the midst of hosting their summer camps for kids and teens.  Camp ministry is a vital part of sharing the gospel message of Jesus Christ and in making disciples of Jesus Christ.  Please be in prayer for Marlon and Luz del Mar and their two sons and they are expecting a new one later this year. Pray for Jonathan and Estefanny and their son as they are the camp ministry directors, and they are still grieving the miscarriage they had in December.  Pray for Ricardo and Karina and their son as Job has some speech and gross and fine motor impediments.  If anyone is interested to learn more about these three families and how you can invest in their ministry let me know as I would love to get you connected.

I have had the opportunity to learn and ask questions from a variety of life coaches and through much prayer and fine tuning the Lord has given me a specific group of people to work with if they so desire. I will be a re-entry coach and helping global workers (missionaries, international businesspeople) to experience an effortless re-entry through personalized care and a supportive community.  I will also equip and coach churches on how to care for these global workers who are re-entering their congregations and communities.  

There is not much care from mission organizations in helping their missionaries to re-enter the US except to offer a debrief, have them read a book on re-entry, and possibly with the help of supporters who continue to give financially for one to three months as they transition.  Many are unaware of the re-entry process, the challenges faced, and the length of time re-entry can take.  Re-entry starts during the decision process of terminating your time in your host country to return to your passport country.  The length of time to fully be reintegrated, readjusted to be settled, find belonging and community, and living purposefully can be daunting as it can take up to ten years with the average being between three to five years.

Pray for sessions 2, 3, & 4 of women’s leadership cohort (biweekly sessions).

Pray for me to continue learning to trust in God. Trust him in the process and outcomes.

Pray for wisdom, discernment, and insight as I meet with people either one-on-one or debriefs.

  SHANNON’S CORNER Be still. Be present. Behold. The prayer labyrinth is a journey that draws us closer to the heart of God with every step.  It’s a path where we listen, trust, and follow, knowing that He is always guiding us.  As we walk this path of prayer, we learn to recognize His voice, to lean into His presence, and to surrender to His direction.  It’s not just about where we’re going—it’s about who we’re walking with.  Lent this year has been a journey of walking inward toward the center of the labyrinth.
