Transitions

This is a season of transition here in the Dominican Republic.  There are new missionaries such as Briana Cowan and next week RJ Pleva who will be transitioning to living here in the DR.  Learning a new culture and a new language.  There are two missionaries, Karen Green and Rebekah Polland who will be transitioning and re-entering into the US to live.  Relearning our culture in the US.  Our last two Care Centers in country are transitioning into being schools for the next school year.  This sometimes means some new staff members and administration as well as new students.  June 12th our summer interns arrive and they will be transitioning into living in the DR for the following six weeks.  As the school year finishes next week, the kids will be home then all day every day for summer break which is a transition for our home parents and kids.  My one housemate, Christina who has been living with me since the beginning of March will be leaving ...

God's goodness

Just when I am fighting a mental and spiritual battle from within.  Questioning.  Doubting.  God reveals himself in small ways.  He speaks to me in a gentle whisper. This past week and a half God has opened up doors for me to know more of who He is.  As I reflect back, I am just in awe and awed-inspired from my Heavenly Father.  I was able to help plant strawberry plants for our aquaponics system at our school in Palo Blanco with the Allen Family.  It's been a while since I have actually planted anything probably since I moved away from Rimersburg.  I have never had a green thumb.  Actually, I killed more things unless it was planted outside for God to take care of it for me 😁.  There is just something therapeutic about planting, getting your hands dirty in the dirt...not sure what it is...just therapeutic. SHANNON’S CORNER April 2017 Nancy & Loida doing sponsorship in MIANCERG Christ is risen!   Hallelujah!   He is risen indeed!   In reading through the books of the law, God had his people, Israel celebrate certain festivals throughout the year to remember what God had done for them.   Easter is one of those times, when spring and new life comes again.   I have been helping out with our child sponsorship project.  Helping Karen, our sponsorship coordinator for the whole country but who will be leaving in June and Loida, who is going to be our new sponsorship coordinator for the island as well as with some of our site coordinators, Nancy, Rebekah, and Emily.  This project is a new way of doing yearly progress reports on our kids.
