The Season of Advent

Love. "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39 Here in the Dominican Republic we do not sing the Christmas hymns on Sunday mornings during this Christmas season.  But the songs we are singing are about God's love especially what Jesus did on the cross and His resurrection.  When you look at the manger and see baby Jesus, remember also the cross and the stone as well.  This is the true meaning of Christmas and the precious gift that God has given us so we will never be separated from His unconditional, agape love. The Season of Advent

Advent Season was always a favorite family tradition growing up.  My siblings and I would take turns of lighting the candles, reading the passage of scripture, and reading the devotional.  But my favorite part was when we would go around the room and each one of us would choose a Christmas Carol to sing.  Sorry to say that I have not kept up this tradition since leaving the USA in 2006 to serve overseas.  This advent season as I prepare my heart to receive the greatest gift ever given to man...walk with me in this advent season together. HOPE. "For in this hope we were saved.  But hope that is seen is no hope at all.   Who hopes for what he already has?   But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently." SHANNON’S CORNER November 2017 “This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24).   What are you rejoicing about this day?
