Burnout & Compassion Fatigue

   SHANNON’S CORNER March 2021 Burnout and Compassion Fatigue are two things that have been the theme this month so I thought I would share with you a little about them. Hopelessness + Helplessness + Prolonged Stress = Burnout Hopelessness is the feeling that nothing will change.  Helplessness   is the feeling of having no control, being powerless.  Prolonged stress wears a person’s resilience down.  Everyone and anyone can experience burnout.  Over time you can help to relieve these symptoms of burnout by bringing change and hope, giving the person a sense of control and reducing stress.  How many of you are burnout? People who work and serve in caregiving roles are those who can experience compassion fatigue that impacts long-term ability to care for yourself and others.  They can also be experiencing burnout at the same time.   SHANNON’S CORNER February 2021 “People start to heal the moment they feel heard.” –Cheryl Richardson I have listened to many people’s stories this past month through group debriefs, trainings and one-on-one sessions.  Stories of loss.  Loss of friends, co-workers, family members, identity, roles, safety and so much more.  Stories of transitions.  Moving, transition within their job, schools, staying with family for an extended visit and even in their personal space and time.  Stories where their faith and values were challenged.  Stories of God’s kindness and goodness. New Beginnings

    SHANNON’S CORNER Welcome 2021!  Bless the Lord, oh my soul… Living Room   This new year has brought many new beginnings   in my life.  New beginnings bring excitement and anticipation and change.  I am humbled with gratitude of how God has poured out His love for me through YOU.  Many of you are continuing to support me in prayer and financially in my new ministry and many have supplied furnishings or money towards setting up my apartment.  God has provided me with a beautiful space and place to call home.  Rachel and I had seen the model of the apartment complex where I am when searching for apartments but not this actual apartment until the day, I moved in.  God pleasantly surprised me with some hidden gems.  The spaciousness, washer/dryer in my apartment, a beautiful patio and a pantry in the kitchen.  Last November when I was sharing with my life coach, Sarah about my up...
